It’s about time Apple’s super-restrictive control over its ITunes store actually work towards the benefit of its users. It was recently announced that Apple shut down Khalid Shaikh and his legion of spam-happy Pakistani programmers, tossing out more than 900 of his useless apps from the store.
Khalid and his gang, operating under the company name “Perfect Acumen”, had generated over 943 apps in a span of just nine months, most of which were either useless, overpriced, and/or infringements on other peoples’ intellectual property.

943 apps in just nine months? What was Apple thinking? While they are busy oppressing fart-knockers and photo wobblers, they somehow manage to let some sleaze bag spam their entire store in, as Khalid himself describes it, an attempt to “minimize value and maximize monetization”. Hey, Steve, what’s up with that?

Your iPhone is already your internet browser, music machine, contacts book, miniature TV, daily planner, oh, not to mention, your phone. It’s the electronic gateway to everything in your world. The Viper SmartStart module, available from Best Buy for $299, adds to this by allowing you to lock and unlock your car, open the trunk, and even start it up over the 3G network, ie. from anywhere in the world. Some practical uses include: keeping the kids from using the car when you’re away, starting the car while you walk across the parking lot on a cold day, or when you’ve lost your keys.
The application itself is a free download, but the Sirius Satellite Radio service still requires that you purchase a subscription, and also has tacked on an additional monthly fee that allows you to utilize your Sirius Satellite Radio on your iPhone or your iPod Touch. If you already are enjoying a Sirius, if you’re an existing Sirius Satellite Radio customer you are not exempt for having to pay this monthly service fee. Though not a high price to pay to enjoy your satellite radio subscription, all that the application does is allows you to have the shortcut to the broadcasting of said satellite network, a service which should be free.
